Fertile Ground Series  Green Space Studio
37-24 24th Street, Suite 211, Long Island City

Hussein El Masry’s oud music with its  hypnotic phrasing is the catalyst behind this quartet for Amy Ashley, Thomas Welsh-Huggins, Corinne Shearer, and Ainesh Madan, choreographed by Deirdre Towers to clarinetist Kinan Azmeh & percussionist/pianist Dinuk Wijeratne’s “Something There.” This choreography explores how our instincts, temperament, pacing, and choices to be passive or aggressive affect every encounter. We morph into the rhythms of those around us or pull them into ours; we shrink into ourselves, or expand with the teasing gust of energy from others.
